The much-heralded reunion of the “classic” Guided By Voices lineup recently came to a close at the Hopscotch Festival, leaving the future of the band mired in uncertainty. But one thing about the beloved indie rock outfit can’t be refuted: they had their start somehwere, and like a great many other bands, it wasn’t so pretty. Via the official site of former GBV member James Greer, check out “Angry Pillows (Gone Away)”, one of the band’s (possible) first recordings from the 1983 non-release Pissing In The Canal. It’s an especially appropriate title, considering how terrible the quality of the track is. But, hey, everyone’s gotta start somewhere.
