Children who came to age in the U.S. in the ’80s and ’90s are no doubt familiar with action cartoons. From ThunderCats to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there’s a generation or two reared on epic butt kicking in the most fantastical of settings. Using that to his advantage, Maynard James Keenan turned Puscifer’s video for “Man Overboard” into his own unique and special Tuniverse. But what started as an computer-animated steampunk tale of pirate-like ne’er-do-wells fighting in the upper atmosphere becomes a depressing meditation on death, man’s hubris, and our overall insignifcance as compared to the power of Mother Nature. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was never this unsettling. Check out the video below courtesy of Rolling Stone.
