Check Out: Tammar – “The Last Line” (Xylos remix) (CoS Premiere)

Aside from scouring the Internet and having music savvy friends, one of the best ways to discover new bands is the remix. The simple concept involves one slightly more famous act reworking a track from a lesser known act, resulting in a bump in notoriety for the up and comer. While New York electro-pop act Xylos may not be Bon Jovi, their remix of Bloomington, IN experimental band Tammar is enough to get the latter on more people’s radar.

The remix in question is “The Last Line”, taken from Tammar’s September release Visits. The original (listen to it here) is a wave of pulsing garage rock, bubbling forth with an air of minimalism that so desperately wishes to explode. And when it does, as faint it may be, the cacophony of noise and distortion is a huge relief. With that to work with, Xylos strip away some of the grunge for bubbling electronics, turning the whole ordeal in something of a grand, romantic experience. Check it out below.
