Based on the recent video for Common‘s collaborative track with Nas, “Ghetto Dreams”, the hip-hop heavyweights dream of a ridiculously sexy woman who rolls her own joints, cooks naked, stays sexy, and respects her man’s scrilla. Well, honestly, who doesn’t share in that fantasy? But we’re sure some of our readers here at Consequence of Sound have aspirations other than those relating to wifey, and we’re always looking for ways to help fulfill them. By way of Talenthouse, our partners in this past summer’s Paul McCartney graphic design contest, we’re giving endeavoring filmmakers a chance to get their names out there in a big way, plus get some solid swag.
Taking inspiration from “Ghetto Dreams”, fresh and creative filmmakers are being asked to submit a unique video for the song. Essentially, this is your chance to film a music video for Common. Submissions will be taken through the below widget until the contest closes on November 7th. The widget will also help you get the word out through your social networking sites. Common will handpick the winner, who will receive the following prizes:
— An exclusive Canon T3i Digital Camera.
— A signed copy of Common’s album, The Dreamer, The Believer.
— A personalized video shout-out from Common himself.
— The winning video promoted on Common’s website and social media networks.
Three runners up will also receive signed copies of The Dreamer, The Believer. To see the original video, click over here. Now get those brains storming and those cameras rolling; we want the winner of this baby to come from CoS. Make us proud!
