Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has been hired as an editor-at-large for independent UK publisher Faber & Faber. According to The Guardian, the acclaimed musician will be tasked with an “open brief to acquire books for a small list at Faber from January 2012,” with the hope of expanding the company’s music publishing. Faber is also releasing Cocker’s first book, Mother, Brother, Lover, a collection of his lyrics accompanied with commentary, next week (Oct. 20th).
As The Guardian points out, Cocker will be following in the footsteps of another celebrated musician, The Who’s Pete Townshend, who served as an editor at Faber in the 1980s.
