Punk covers band TV Casualty ready Misfits covers EP with Ted Leo

For the last few Halloweens, punk covers band TV Casualty has left behind the mini-Snickers bars and lame Halloween parties to hit the stage and resurrect the music of The Misfits. On this year’s All Hallows Eve, the rag-tag group will at last release a covers EP of the best of Glenn Danzig and company’s spooky punk rock, as Exclaim! points out.

But, here’s the kicker: Ted Leo will do his best Danzig as he provides vocals for the effort. Leo, who has appeared as a guest singer during past Halloween gigs, will be joined by the core members Brian Sokel (Franklin, AM/FM), Andy Nelson (Ceremony, Paint It Black), Atom Goren (Atom and His Package), and Chris Wilson (Ted Leo & the Pharmacists). The band has also previously done charity shows while performing as other punk icons, including The Ramones and Black Flag.

The EP, limited to 200 copies and pressed on blood red 7″ vinyl, will be available October 31st as a mail order-only release via Matador Records (though tracks can be bought digitally on the day of release). Some copies should also be available at the band’s October 28th show in Gainesville, FL as part of this year’s The Fest (details here). All proceeds will benefit The Attic Youth Center, Philadelphia, PA’s only LGBTQ youth center.

Below is part one of the band’s 2010 Halloween show from Johnny Brenda’s in Philaldelphia, PA. Head here to check out the rest of that show and other TV Casualty performances.
