Video: Erykah Badu – “Out Of My Mind, Just In Time (Movement II)

Erykah Badu’s “Out Of My Mind, Just In Time”, the album closer from her latest LP New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), clocks in at well over 10 minutes. And since the average consumer doesn’t have an attention span to truly enjoy such an effort as is, Badu went ahead and broke up the song into two movements with two corresponding self-directed videos. The first movement, which debuted in back in May, sees Badu shot in black and white, dancing rather fluidly and sensually in a big empty space. The second movement is decidedly more frantic musically, with the accompanying footage seeing Badu do away with the sleek movements for pained thrashing. It may have taken five months and more footage than most videos, but the subtle story of surprising power is at last complete; check it out in its entirety below.
