Here’s something exciting (well, for everyone except maybe Courtney Love): Former Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic recently hit the studio with Nevermind producer Butch Vig. The news was revealed on Twitter by Vig, who wrote “The last 24 hours have been surreal! Had a great gig at the El Rey last night, and spent today recording with Dave, Krist and special guest.”

It’s unclear what the trio recorded, but there’s a pretty good possibility it has to do with Grohl’s upcoming documentary about Sound City Studios, where Nevermind was recorded. Grohl has also reportedly recorded with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and members of Ratt for the documentary.

Grohl, Novoselic, and Vig previously reunited for the release of Foo Fighters’ latest LP, Wasting Light. Vig produced the album and Novoselic guested on the track “I Should Have Known”, which you can listen to below.
