If Laura Pergolizzi’s name isn’t familiar, her past credits may be: the New York native has previously written tunes for Rihanna (“Cheers”) and Christina Aguilera (“Beautiful People”). Focusing more on her solo career these days, Pergolizzi, who performs simply as LP, parlayed a successful run at this year’s South by Southwest into a deal with Warner Bros. Records. On April 24th, she’ll release her first effort on WB with the five-song CD/DVD package entitled Into The Wild: Live At EastWest Studios.
Produced by Rob Cavallo with assistance from Mike Elizondo and Julian Raymond, the EP was recorded during an intimate full-band performance inside Hollywood’s EastWest recording studio. As an introduction to the record, LP has released the video for the title track. With ukulele in hand, she leads a cast of musicians through a rollicking folk tune brimming with revival energy. Though short of stature and hidden behind a mop of hair, LP is by far the most captivating thing on a cluttered stage. Watch it below.
A full-length album from LP can be expected later this year, according to a press release. In the meantime, peep the full EP tracklist below, followed by LP’s upcoming tour schedule.
