It’s not often that Canadian indie rock bands and a pedestrian bridges find themselves to be kindred spirits. Then again, Vancouver’s Young Liars aren’t your average Canadian indie rock band. In between working day jobs as electricians, web developers and cell phone salesmen, this fresh faced five-piece still made the time to lay down the tracks for their debut Homesick Future EP, which dropped this February.
Now, about that bridge. The video for group’s first single, “Colours,” was filmed atop a very special kind of pedestrian bridge in Surrey, BC known as the Pioneer Cycling and Pedestrian Overpass. According to a press release, “Illuminated at night, the bridges lights are programmed according to the season and in some cases, passing traffic.” Here, the lights pulse along with Young Liars’s infectious brand of dance punk. Sure it’s a pretty literal visual manifestation of the song, but it’s damn fun to watch nonetheless. Get your rave on below.
