Those giving Beck the stink eye for his lack of work might need to shape up soon. The singer has plans to release not one, but two albums in the near future. As Rolling Stone reports, he’s at work on “a previously announced acoustic album plus another album that the source describes as the proper follow-up to Modern Guilt.” The former has been described as “a small-bore, self-contained work along the lines of 1994s One Foot in the Grave.” Both will be released independently.
To kick things off in style, he’s quietly dropped a standalone single, titled “Defriended”. Right off the bat, the thunderous stomp ‘n’ quake, electro ballad-of-sorts shifts around like a different Beck, though anyone currently subscribed to James Blake’s method to aural emotion might appreciate the milky wash with ease. Find out below.
Don’t worry, Rolling Stone states that another standalone single will surface before summer’s end. Though, if that’s not enough, you could always go out and see him preview the new material on tour next month.
