British producer Matt Cutler, better known simply as Lone, has shared his first single since 2012’s well-received Galaxy Garden LP. “Airglow Fires”, though more quelled than his usual rave-like affairs, is still a refreshing, upbeat electronic number made up of a patchwork of sounds that spring, blitz, and glisten with vigor.
According to a press release, the track reflects Cutler’s “rediscovered love of classic hip-hop”. “I love hip-hop and house music when it’s at its rawest,” he explained, “to me ‘Airglow Fires’ has that kind of 90s basement vibe to it, where the lines between the two genres are kind [of] blurred.”
“Airglow Fires” will appear on a 12″ of the same name, due out July 9th via R&S Records.
