On Thursday night, veteran singer-songwriter Mark Mulcahy performed at Chicago’s The Hideout, marking his first gig in the Second City in over a decade. In support of his latest album, Dear Mark J. Mulcahy, I Love You, the Connecticut legend rolled out a number of new tracks (“The Rabbit”, “Where’s the Indifference Now”), in addition to old favorites from his solo discography (“Hey Self Defeater”, “Love’s the Only Thing That Shuts Me Up”), Miracle Legion (“The Ladies From Town”), and Polaris (“She is Staggering”, “Saturnine”, and “Waiting for October”). The house was full and in favor of the singer, adding witty banter and calling out for requests all throughout the evening. Suffice it to say, it was a triumphant return.
