Universal launches crowdfunding campaign to reissue out-of-print vinyl

Universal Music Group, a major record label, needs your help in its campaign to reissue out-of-print vinyl records from Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Björk, Pulp, and other acts from its massive catalog.

As FACT points out, Universal has launched a crowdfunding campaign called Uvinyl: The Vinyl Project, which follows the lead of like-minded campaigns executed by Ninja Tune and BeatDelete. The only difference is Universal is a major label and, according to recent data, vinyl sales are at their highest point since 1997.

Funders of The Vinyl Project will become “owners of limited edition rare records, which will also include digital downloads and personalized art prints.” Those interested can visit Uvinyl’s website and register for more information.
