London singer-songwriter Anna Calvi will issue her sophomore album, One Breath, on October 8th via Domino Records. The 11-track effort follows her self-titled debut from 2011 and is previewed with the lead single “Eliza”. Precise and propulsive from the get-go, it’s an impressive, evocative cut showcasing her spirited, ache-strewn voice and a wicked little guitar-shredding solo. Calvi, here, sounds like an accomplished vocalist, her beckoning for “Elizaaaaaa” — a wild, yet somehow restrained cry — is in itself a startling and masterful plea.
