Sky Ferreira and DIIV arrested for drug possession

Sky Ferreira and DIIV, a.k.a. Zachary Cole Smith, were arrested in Saugerties, New York Friday night and charged with a number of offenses, including drug possession.

According to Daily Freeman, the two musicians were pulled over by police after the driver (Smith) made several traffic infractions. Upon checking its registration, police discovered the car to be stolen and Smith was wanted on an outstanding vehicle and traffic warrant.

Smith was found in possession of 42 decks of heroin, and has been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of stolen property, and one count of aggravated unlicensed driving, all of which are misdemeanor offenses. He was also charged with the violations of unregistered motor vehicle, driving without insurance, unlicensed driver, and having an inadequate exhaust system

Meanwhile, Ferreira was found in possession of Ecstasy, and has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

Ferreira and Smith were both arraigned in Saugerties Village Court and released on bail.

Update: Smith wrote on DIIV’s Twitter account, “what you’re reading is a police blotter, not the outcome of a court case. these cops wanted to fuck us, and they did. sky did nothing wrong.”
