Irish singer-songwrier James Vincent McMorrow is gearing up to release his new album, Post Tropical, this January through Vagrant Records. His second full-length to date finds McMorrow continuing the sobering sentiments of last year’s We Don’t Eat EP and 2011’s Early In the Morning LP, but with a new sense of ghostly R&B ambiance à la James Blake.
“I remember my first love,” he croons on lead single “Cavalier”, his delicate falsetto reflecting the sound of heartbreak. Here, subdued electronic textures replace his acoustic guitar of yesteryear, their minimalistic sparks and hums building up to a triumphant swell of brass. Listen in below.
