Listen to Sun Kil Moon’s solemn new song, “Micheline”

As we noted last month, Mark Kozelek will issue his sixth Sun Kil Moon album, Benji, on February 4th via his own label Caldo Verde. The record follows his collaboration with The Album Leaf, May’s Perils From the Seaand features guests like Will OldhamSonic Youth’s Steve Shelley, vocalist Jen Wood (The Postal Service, The Black Heart Procession), and Owen Ashworth (Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Advance Base).

Much like the previously released track “Richard Ramirez Died Today of Natural Causes”, Kozelak’s latest offering “Micheline” is a solemn number that grapples with death, loss, and family. Even at its most heartbreaking, Kozelak is a commanding yet comforting storyteller and songwriter, able to weave beauty even through thick threads of sadness. Tune in below (via Stereogum).

Kozelak is currently on a lengthy world tour. Consult the full schedule.
