Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” manuscript to be auctioned

A handwritten manuscript for Bruce Springsteen’s “Burn to Run” is being put on auction and is expected to fetch between $70,000 and $100,000, according to Billboard.

Written in blue ink on an 8½-by-11 sheet of ruled notepaper, the manuscript dates back to 1974 and includes several early lyrics of the song:

“This town’ll rip the (out your) bones from yourback / it’s a suicide trap (rap) (it’s a trap to catch theyoung) your dead unless / you get out (we gotto) while your young so (come on! / with) take myhand cause tramps / like us baby we were born to run.”

According to auction house Sotheby’s, few manuscripts of “Born to Run” are available, and this particular document is one of only two identified that include the most famous lines in the song. Springsteen’s former manager, Mike Appel, was the original owner, however, the current seller was not revealed.
