It goes without saying, but even at 38 years young, Jack White has etched his place on modern music’s Mount Rushmore. Now, Cleopatra Records has curated a tribute album to White, and get this: it features contributions from many of the artists he’s cited as influences. Talk about R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Due out November 19th, Rockin’ Legends Pay Tribute to Jack White contains covers of White’s songs (including The White Stripes and The Raconteurs) from rockabilly veterans like Wanda Jackson (who White previously collaborated with), Gary U.S. Bonds, Sonny Burgess, Big Jay McNeely, Johnny Powers, Joe Clay, Rosie Flores, and Bobby Vee. Other contributors include Shooter Jennings, Los Straitjackets, and Cyril Neville.
In anticipation of the album’s release, you can hear Jackson’s cover of The White Stripes’ “In the Cold, Cold Night” at Rolling Stone.
