Brooklyn independent label Mexican Summer is celebrating its five years in the music biz. The imprint recently threw their very own festival in honor of the milestone, and now, they’re set to release a hard-cover, limited edition book aptly titled Mexican Summer: Five Years. Limited to just 1,000 copies, the book comes with 256 pages of previously unseen photos, art, and text from the label’s many artists. It also includes a 10″ album full of artist collaborations: Bay Of Pigs (Spiritualized, Soldiers Of Fortune, and Neil Hagerty), Jorge Elbrose (Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink), Autre Ne Veut and Fennesz, Quilt and Bobb Trimble, and The Lonely Sailor and Renée Mendoza Haran (members of Total Control, Lace Curtain & Ashrae Fax).
The entire set is due out on December 9th, but in anticipation, the label’s shared Autre Ne Veut and Fennesz collaborative track “Alive”. It’s a slick piece of futuristic pop with hidden bursts of explosive, glimmering production. Listen to it below.
