The incomparable Busta Rhymes will make his debut on Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Records with E.L.E. 2 (Extinction Level Event 2). For the first time, he teams with fellow hip-hop veteran Q-Tip on lead single “Thank You”. Over a chunky guitar loop sampled from Alicia Myers’ sensual “I Want to Thank You”, the duo engage in a some lightning-quick wordplay like two old-school generals.
Featuring six verses of the fastest rapping this side of a Twista track, there’s lyrical gems galore, but Busta takes home the gold with these three bars: “See how we push sometimes man forget cuff, beat him the head / Boop-be-de-de-boff, zippity-boof / Beat him in the head again, stop killing me, Wolf! Whop!”
Kanye West and Weezy also appear on the track, though their contributions serve as nonsensical filler for the string of crushing rhymes. (Wayne makes a joke about bank deposits while West just sounds creepy saying “It feel good, don’t it?”)
