Listen: Mr. Dream make dance-punk extra dark with “Loud Tools”

Brooklyn noise rockers Mr. Dream continue to explore the realm of dance-punk with “Loud Tools”, the latest single from their forthcoming album, The Ultimate In Luxury. Much in the same vein as the sleek and shimmery “Fringy Slider”, the band’s clearly drawing from Franz Ferdinand and Interpol for an undeniable blend of crunchy dissonance and sweltering dance grooves. But whereas its predecessor only flirted with underlying pockets of tension and angst, “Loud Tools” readily embraces its “darker” elements, which lends a certain kind of swagger and playful devilishness to the mix. Listen in below.

The Ultimate In Luxury is due out in January via drummer Nick Sylvester’s Godmode label.
