Next spring, American Laundromat Records will pay tribute to director Wes Anderson and his music-laden filmography with a new double-CD tribute album. I Saved Latin! features artists covering songs from almost all of Anderson’s movies, including Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Life Aquatic, Bottle Rocket, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Darjeeling Limited.
While additional artists will be announced closer to the release date, already the tracklist includes covers of Love’s “Seven and Seven Is” by Black Francis; The Rolling Stones’ “Street Fighting Man” by Mike Watt; The Kinks’ “This Time Tomorrow” by Telekinesis; Mark Mothersbaugh’s “Margaret Yang’s Theme” by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin; and Elliott Smith’s “Needle In the Hay” by Juliana Hatfield. Other artists can be found covering songs by Nick Drake, The Velvet Underground, Cat Stevens, John Lennon, The Zombies, and more.
To go along with the album’s release, the label is offering several items of Anderson-themed merch, including a Team Zissou beanie, a Moonrise Kingdom Khaki scout badge, Max Fischer’s business card (Rushmore), three different t-shirts, and a limited-edition 7″.
