Surprise releases continue to be the rage in 2013. Today, British producer Darren J. Cunningham, a.k.a. Actress, has unexpectedly dropped a new 12-inch single via Werkdiscs/Ninja Tune. Featuring two tracks, “Grey Over Blue” and “Wee Bey”, it seems to be an entirely separate release from his forthcoming (and likely last) album, Ghettoville, which is due out at the end of January. The single marks Cunningham’s first piece of officially issued material since his 2012 record, R.I.P.
Below, listen to the nearly eight-minute “Grey Over Blue”. Murky, troubled, and drizzled with ghostly clacks and snaps, it’ll make you feel as though you’re floating endlessly inside a dark oblivion.
Actress’ 12-inch single is out now in the UK and will be available in the US on Monday. Ghettoville arrives on January 28th.
