On January 28th, psych-rock outfit Sleepy Sun will release their fourth studio LP, Maui Tears, through Dine Alone Records. Before then, however, the group show off their own brand of holiday cheer with a cover of the seasonal classic “What Child Is This?”.
Staying true to the Sleepy Sun sound, the rendition’s a chugging slab of fuzzed-out noise, thick, trippy, and light years away from the heartwarming original we all know and often solemnly croon. Listen in below.
The track is taken from the compilation Psych-Out Christmas, which also features Iggy Pop, Psychic Ills, and Dead Meadow.
