Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks return today with “Cinnamon and Lesbians”, the second track off their sixth studio album, Wig Out at Jagbags, due out January 7th via Matador. The track, then thought to be called “Cinnamon and Ladies”, was also one of four previewed during a recent show in Portland.
Following the ’60s garage-pop of “Lariat”, “Cinnamon and Lesbians” features more of an alt-country-meets-Pavement vibe. With Malkmus crooning about glass-blowing hippies and Christian sailors over the one-two punchy of fuzzy guitars and punch drums, it’s the the grimy, punk-rock stepchild of Rust Never Sleeps.

Wig Out at Jagbags is set to be streamed live on Amazon starting on New Year’s Eve. The band will also support the album with a European tour, scheduled to span most of January. See the full docket below.
