Say what you will about its bold music video, but Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” is one of the best songs of 2013, a monster pop ballad for the ages (and no doubt many karaoke nights to come). It’s no wonder, then, that acts from across all genres have covered it. Previously we saw HAIM Apply some gnarly guitar to the smash hit, then there was Angel Haze’s gorgeous, tearjerker rendition. During a recent stop at BBC Radio’s Live Lounge, London Grammar pulled out their own take on the chart-topper.
True to their sound, CoSigned UK trio take the track to a darker place, wrapping it in the haunting, all-consuming glow that dominated their excellent debut album, If You Wait. At times, frontwoman Hannah Reid gives Cyrus a clear run for her money, her operatic vocals a striking combination of conviction, poise, and utter devastation. Watch it below.
