From this point forward, please refer to PJ Harvey as ‘Miss Polly Jean Harvey MBE’ and Adele as ‘Miss Adele Adkins MBE’. That’s because today, both musicians became Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

MBE is one of the highest honors a British citizen can receive, and was previously given to The Beatles (Paul McCartney was later knighted). Just last year, Kate Bush was awarded with a similar honor.
