Although it’s been a number of years since Phantogram released their debut full length, 2010’s Eyelid Movies, the electro-pop duo has by no means been out of the spotlight: they’ve released a couple of EPs, including September’s self-titled effort, appeared on albums by The Flaming Lips and Big Boi, and contributed to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. Now, they’re finally ready to release their sophomore LP, Voices, due out on February 18th through Republic Records.
Spanning 11 tracks, the album is previewed by “Fall In Love”. Like the fantastic recent single “Black Out Days” (which also features on Voices) it shows a large growth in sound; their trademark atmospheric synths are now partnered with direct and darkly cutting ones, while Sarah Batheles’ voice is more commanding without losing any of its allure.
