Selecting Bonnaroo as our Festival of the Year wasn’t exactly a difficult decision. 2013 boasted one of the most stacked lineups of any festival ever, with the likes of Paul McCartney, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Björk, Wu Tang Clan, David Byrne & St. Vincent, The National, Divine Fits, Purity Ring, Kendrick Lamar, Action Bronson, HAIM, and Death Grips all having their place on the farm. And that’s not even mentioning the three jaw-dropping SuperJams or a comedy lineup that featured Daniel Tosh, Comedy Bang! Bang!, and Bob fuckin’ Saget.
So yeah, obviously 2014 has a hell of an act to follow. As AC Entertainment founder Ashley Capps told us recently, the music fans on the Bonnaroo booking team are already hard at work building next year’s lineup, but they want to know who you want to see in Manchester, TN next year. What legacy act should headline the What Stage? Which young risers should open things up Thursday night in The Other Tent? What little-known band do you want to stumble upon at Cafe Where? Let the ‘Roo Crew know by posting your personal fantasy additions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram with the hashtags #Roo14Wishlist and #CoS.
Be creative: post a pic, make a gif, a Vine, or better yet, film a full video. Of course, there’s no fun in fantasizing a lineup if you don’t go to the fest did, right? So here’s what we’ll do: We’ll select our top 10 favorite entries and post them next week. Then CoS readers will vote on their favorite, and the winner gets a pair of VIP tickets to Bonnaroo 2014. Remember: tag your post with both #Roo14Wishlist and #CoS, or we won’t be able to find your entry. (Winner responsible for transportation and accommodations – which really just means a tent.)
So go on, get your carpool buddies together and fire up that camera like the infamous evil 5-year-old Squish and his mom Amy did last year. Not only did they get Bernhoft all the way from Norway to Tennessee, but the little Bonnaroovian got a special trip to the farm and shaved his mom’s head on stage! Dude’s five! So be like Squish, and let us all know who you want to see at Bonnaroo 2014. Capps and his team are listening, and you never know what what will come out of a little wishful thinking. Keep track of other fans’ wish lists at the The Fountain section on Bonnaroo’s website. If you need more coaxing, let Squish explain all the perks that could come from posting your #Roo14Wishlist with #CoS.
