Right before Thanksgiving, Pennsylvania folk-rockers The Districts became the latest act to sign with Fat Possum Records (Youth Lagoon, Christopher Owens, Andrew Bird). Wasting no time, the young four-piece are gearing up to issue their new self-titled EP on January 28th, a collection that features two new tracks and three remastered tracks off their 2012 self-released album, Telephone.
In anticipation, they’ve shared a new version of “Funeral Beds”, a song that once went viral due to its amazing one-take performance video. All Reddit points aside, the track’s a truly robust number, its twangy charm and gruff vocals later building up to one heck of an explosive ending. I imagine the band break many a mic stand and guitar string to this one. Listen in below.
In support, the band will hit the road with White Denim early next year.
