The full video for Daft Punk’s “Instant Crush” has been revealed. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Steadfast Tin Soldier, it depicts the love affair between two inanimate statues in a museum: a solider who looks remarkably similar to track collaborator Julian Casablancas and a young farm girl. Watch below and also be on the lookout for the subtle Daft Punk reference at the 3:27 mark.
Update: The video was directed by Warren Fu. Tony Gardner, the lead make-up artist on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, sculpted Casablancas’ face.
“Instant Crush” appears on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories.
