If you haven’t checked out our Top 25 Videos of the Year list, I’m going to go ahead and spoil it for you: David Bowie is the only artist with two inclusions. He’s not resting on his laurels though, as tonight he returns with yet another set of visuals. This time it’s for “I’d Rather Be High (Venetian Mix)”, which appears on the recent expanded release The Next Day Extra and also soundtracks Bowie’s short film for Louis Vuitton. Directed by Tom Hingston, the video pairs found footage from World War 2, including one especially haunting scene of soldiers dancing while wearing gas masks, with distorted images of the musical mastermind similar to the one posted above. Watch below.
In related news, “I’d Rather Be High (Venetian Mix)” and James Murphy’s remix of “Love Is Lost” will be released on 12-inch white vinyl on December 16th. It comes housed in a unique die cut sleeve designed by Jonathan Barnbrook.
