For the past eight years, The Killers have released a special Christmas single on World AIDs Day to support Product (RED) in their fight against the disease. This year, the band adds the song “Christmas in L.A.” to their canon of carols, and they’ve brought in some extra star power for the song’s accompanying visuals.

Part animated, part live action, the video stars Owen Wilson as “a struggling actor in L.A. who misses the traditional Christmas,” frontman Brandon Flowers explained to the UK’s Metro. As he contemplates the meaning of life with help from Harry Dean Stanton, The Killers soundtrack the clip with an alt-country ballad that features backing vocals from Dawes.

Flowers added, “You’ll never see us smile or let our hair down as much as when we do the Christmas stuff. It always turns out to be a lot of work but it’s really refreshing.”

Watch the clip below (via Rolling Stone), and purchase “Christmas in L.A.” via iTunes. Remember, all proceeds go to support Product (RED)’s efforts against AIDs.
