Dave Matthews Band have revealed dates for their annual summer tour. This time around, however, they’re changing things up a bit. Dubbed “A Very Special Evening with Dave Matthews Band”, each show will not only feature a full set from the band, but also a special acoustic performance from Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.
Matthews explained in a statement, “I was talking to [drummer Carter Beauford] about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together. It’s how we started – in the basements of Carter’s and my mom’s houses. Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?”
The extensive jaunt kicks of May 16th in Texas and stretches through early September. A variety of special guests will join the band throughout the tour, according to a press release, and this year’s shows at The Gorge in George, WA will also feature a Caravan stage with performances by additional artists.
