It was Bruce Springsteen Night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon loves himself some Bruce Springsteen, and the feeling’s pretty mutual. Only Fallon could get The Boss to dress up like a 1970s version of himself and cover Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair”, or don his 1980s bandana for a take on LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It”. When Wrecking Ball was released, Fallon dedicated an entire week to Springsteen. With High Hopes hitting retailers yesterday, Fallon welcomed Springsteen back on the program last night for a 100% Boss episode.

The episode kicked off with another instant classic of a parody, as both Springsteen and Fallon donned Born in the USA-era Springsteen garb and poked fun at New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s current predicament with a revamped version of “Born to Run”.”You got Wall Street masters stuck cheek to cheek with blue collar truckers, but man I really got to take a leak, Bruce sang. “But I can’t I’m stuck in Governor Chris Christie’s’ Fort Lee traffic jam.”

The interview portion saw Springsteen discuss his 50-year career in music and biggest inspirations. He revealed he often finds himself awake at 3am searching for new music and that he’s a big fan of Miley Cyrus’ version of “Wrecking Ball”. He also spoke about his pre-show ritual (and how he doesn’t do vocal exercises), and showed off his ridiculous 64-year-old physique by challenging Fallon to a push-up contest, leading to the incredible GIF you see below. Can you guess who won?

Springsteen then supported High Hopes with a three-song performance, including “High Hopes”, “Heaven’s Wall”, and “Just Like Fire Would”. He was accompanied by Tom Morello and the E Street Band.
