Janelle Monáe to appear on Sesame Street

One of the hardest working musicians around, Janelle Monáe is now set to appear on Sesame Street for its 45th season to teach kids the importance of never giving up. Premiering September 2014, the new season of Sesame Street will feature the singer performing “The Power Of Yet”, a tune written by Sesame Street music director Bill Sherman, along with the show’s Muppet cast.

Judging by a behind-the-scenes video of Monáe’s appearance (via Billboard), “The Power Of Yet” will be a vibrant and danceable tune with a universal message, appealing to both Sesame Street and Monáe fans. Describing the song’s content, Monáe explains “[If] you try to jump but can’t get enough height, you try to sing the words to a song but you forgot them—it doesn’t matter because you can keep doing it. Practice on your mistakes and there’s so much power in ‘yet.'”
