Conceived by Brooklyn-based musician Grey Gersten, Eternal Lips is an “outsider pop” project looking to explore “pop music in a totally honest and non-ironic way.” Gersten previously worked with John Zorn, Michael Hurley, and TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone, and now he’s slated to release the project’s self-titled EP on February 25th via New Mirage Records.
For a taste of Eternal Lips’ brand of experimental pop, check out “Dream Hesitate”, which features guest vocals from Sharon Van Etten. A hazy, shimmering lullaby, the song is about, according to Gersten, “believing in yourself and doubting yourself at the same time… while eating a cheeseburger.” While he’s definitely some kind of a joker, Gersten’s music is also thoughtful and utterly romantic.
