When teaming up with her sister, cabaret singer Maude Maggart, Fiona Apple finds a perfect counterpart to absolutely nail an Anton Karas song. For Starbucks’ new Valentine’s Day comp, Sweethearts 2014, the siblings contribute a vintage-sounding duet of “I’m in the Middle of a Riddle”. Maggart and Apple’s sweet and subtle vocal interplay does the the Austrian composer’s 1950 tune justice, with gorgeously plucky chords that don’t veer far from the original composition. Listen below.
