Listen: Quilt’s new single, “Tie Up the Tides”

 

Boston-based Quilt have proven to be torchbearers for freewheeling, ’60s-tinged pop with the previous singles from their forthcoming sophomore LP, Held in Splendor. The tumbling “Arctic Shark” recalls the breezy affectation of The Beatles, while the peppy, fuzz-laden “Tired and Buttered” ventures into unabashed psychedelia. With their latest single, “Tie Up the Tides”, the trio find a kind of middle ground, a slightly sunny, slightly funky ballad that plays like a gentler Jefferson Airplane meets a more passionate Mamas and the Papas. Held in Splendor is due out January 28th via Mexican Summer. In support, the band will be on tour next month, and you can consult the full schedule below.
