Maybe because I skipped one too many social studies classes senior year, I’m not 100% certain of the geo-political relationship status between the Caribbean nations of Colombia and Barbados. Either way, here’s a case for both countries coming together as some new, uber sensuous superpower: Colombian temptress Shakira has joined forces with Barbadian pop princess Rihanna for a new track entitled, “Can’t Remember To Forget You”.
Mixing a reggae groove with dance-rock flourishes, the track sees both beauties commiserating over a man they can’t let go, their voices (Shakira’s soaring and anthemic, Rihanna’s more sleek and understated) interacting to achieve a blend of achy forlorn and slight indignation. Listen in below.
The track is the lead single off Shakira’s forthcoming tenth studio album, due out sometime this year. The duo also shot a video for the song, so there’s that to look forward to.
Of the collaboration, Shaikra recently told Glamour, “Working with her was utopia. She’s the sexiest woman on the planet. And at the end of the day, we’re both just basically Caribbean girls. The chemistry was so good and so real. She taught me dance moves. She was a sweet teacher.”
