Real Estate have announced the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2011’s Days. The band’s third album, Atlas, will arrive March 4th via Domino Records.
Spanning 10 tracks, the album was recorded at Wilco’s Chicago studio, The Loft, this past summer. The lineup consisted of founding members Martin Courtney (guitar/vocals), Matt Mondanile (guitar), and Alex Bleeker (bass/vocals) alongside new full-time members Jackson Pollis (drums) and Matt Kallman (keyboard) and producer Tom Schick (Rufus Wainwright, Mavis Staples, Low).
Together, they recorded 19 songs over a two-week period and the result is “the band’s most collaborative, richly detailed album to date,” according to a press release.
In anticipation, they’ve shared the lead single, “Talking Backwards”. Occupying a space somewhere between somber and outright peppy, the song’s jangly guitars and driving rhythm are the perfect soundtrack for some long, drawn-out road trip to who knows where.
