Thurston Moore’s black metal supergroup announces album, immediately breaks up

Remember when Thurston Moore joined the black metal supergroup, Twilight?

It’s true. In 2012, the former-Sonic Youth, current-Chelsea Light Moving-frontman, and figurehead of noisy indie rock decided to dip his toes into noisier black metal. Nearly two years after its formation, the band finally announced their third album, III: Beneath Trident’s Tomb, out March 18 via Century Media.

Unfortunately, the LP will also be Twilight’s last, as news of the band breaking up came with the album announcement. Twilight feature(d) Moore, Stavros Giannopoulos (Atlas Moth), Wrest (Leviathan), and N. Imperial (Krieg), and Chicago-based metal producer Sanford Parker.

Listen to the shrieking and sinister opening track, “Lungs” below and peak at the tracklist.
