Janelle Monáe had quite the blockbuster year in 2013, what with her excellent album The Electric Lady, her Saturday Night Live debut, and her stunning live show. The R&B/pop star also earned praise and recognition during Billboard’s “Women in Music” event in December, where she took home the prestigious “Rising Star” award. Glasgow synth-pop outfit CHVRCHES — who had a big 2013 of their own — were among the many artists in attendance, and they honored Monáe and her big win by performing a special cover of her 2010 hit single “Tightrope”. Stylish, beat-heavy, and synth-driven, it’s a mix of the best of both artists’ worlds. Watch it below.
