Pattern Is Movement announce new album, stream “River”

After laying low for the last six years, Philly-based duo Pattern Is Movement will return with a new album on April 1st. The self-titled effort, to be released via Hometapes, finds the duo expanding on the off-kilter stylings of their 2008 record, All Together, incorporating more synth and soul.

Pattern Is Movement cite everyone from OutKast and Bruce Springsteen to Drake and Werner Herzog as influences, calling the new LP “an entirely modern artifact right under our feet. It’s beautiful and pulsing. It’ll make you sweat.”

Our first taste of the record comes courtesy of its opening track, “River”. An unpredictably mesmeric number that touches on slinky R&B and abstract pop, it sounds like a cross between Justin Vernon’s soft-rock project Gayngs and the Dirty Projectors. Take a listen below.

Pattern Is Movement Tracklist:
01. River
02. Climb to Me
03. Rum
04. Little by Little
05. Suckling
06. Gone My Love
07. Let’s Be Done
08. Make It Right
09. Light of the World
10. Wonderful

In support, the band have announced a month-long US tour that kicks off in March.
