Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne has unveiled the second track from his debut solo album, the all-acoustic This Machine Kills Artists, due out June 3rd via Ipecac Recordings. Having established his own unique genre of molk (metal + folk) with “Dark Brown Teeth”, Osborne emphasizes more of the metal side with “Drunken Baby”.
Here, Osborne proves that volume and dissonance are merely sidearms; his true weapon, however, is that voice of his, a menacing, occasionally demonic boom he uses to instill a sense of primal fear and uncertainty. That, and whatever deep, dark emotional abyss he draws upon with truly lethal effectiveness.
