Looks like HBO just gave Dave Grohl another hat to wear: Foo Fighters’ prolific frontman will reportedly helm a new TV series for the cable network, according to Grohl biographer Paul Brannigan, who broke the news on Classic Rock Magazine.
The as-yet-untitled program looks to expand on Grohl’s recent Sound City documentary, as it will see him visit and record music in recording studios around the world.
Among the featured studios, according to Brannigan: Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio in Chicago; Rancho de Luna in California; and Washington, D.C.’s Inner Ear Studios. Each episode features interviews with artists who recorded at the respective studios, including Minor Threat and Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye, Kiss frontman Paul Stanley, Joe Walsh from The Eagles, and Heart’s Nancy Wilson.
As avid Foo Fighters fans will surely note, these are the very studios the entire band was spotted recording at in recent months. It’s been reported the band intends to record their as-yet-unannounced eighth studio album in studios across the country. Perhaps Grohl’s new show is just an extension of this?
The show is expected to air on HBO this winter. We reached out to Foo Fighters for confirmation, but have yet to hear back as of publication.
