Nika Roza Danilova, aka Zola Jesus, has offered up more details on her recently announced album, Taiga. The LP will hit shelves on October 7th in the U.S. via Mute Records. It was written on Vashon Island, Washington and mixed in Los Angeles by Dean Hurley (David Lynch, Sparklehorse). While Taiga is her fifth album to date, Zola considers it her most liberating release and her “true debut”.

“It represents a feral, untapped world that could happily exist without us,” she explains in a press release. “There are taiga forests in Northern Wisconsin where I was raised, and also in Russia where my ancestors are from, so it also feels very native… For me, it feels like my true debut, because it is the first time I have felt so open and liberated.”

Our first taste of the new LP comes courtesy of a propulsive thumper called “Dangerous Days”. Listen in below.
