There are festivals and then there are Bestivals. And this year’s event, which kicks off in less than week, promises to be a real treat. The four day show (September 4th-7th) has a sterling reputation, having earned multiple superlatives since it’s launch in 2004, including Best Major UK Festival and Fan’s Favorite Festival respectively. Bestival also made recent headlines when founder Rob Da Bank – channeling his inner Perry Farrell – announced plans to expand stateside in the near future. But it’s this year’s epic lineup that’s getting music enthusiasts all hot and bothered as they make their way to Robin Hill Park to become shipwrecked castaways for the festival’s eleventh installment.
Acts like Outkast, Disclosure, Beck, Sam Smith, Chvrches, and London Grammar, who have been making the outdoor scene all summer, will be joining in the fun. And the beauty of Bestival is that they’ve also attracted plenty of unique performers including Mø, Busta Rhymes, Jenny Lewis, La Roux, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Wild Beasts, Caribou, Diplo, Tune-Yards, and the penultimate live performance of Darkside, who just announced an indefinite hiatus via twitter a few weeks ago.
This will be the first year that CoS has reporters on the ground and it’s about damn time. We’re packing our gear, crossing the pond, and hoping to see you there. Whether you’re camping, couch surfing, or day tripping through the dozens of stages and zany park spaces, this is a must see festival and a fine way to close out a memorable summer of music.
